Library is one place wherein all the subjects under the sun are made available in the form of books or other material (Audio/video tapes/CD) for the knowledge, information, education, research and entertainment of the reader. Dr. S.R.Rangnathan has defined library as follows:

| “Library is a confluence of Books, Readers and Staffs.”

| It means library is a place that has the trinity of Books, Readers and the Librarians as its central character. It satisfies the student’s quest for knowledge. Libraries are the reading grounds to realise the dream of an educated society through ideological revolution. The education department is making a wholehearted effort to make these libraries an inseparable part of a student’s everyday life. It is well said

All the students of NMC are the honorary members of the library. The intention is that they are introduced to subjects beyond their curriculum. 22,245 honorary members are connected with this “Mission Library”. The process of computerisation of the library has been completed and the libraries situated in different wards of the city are connected with each other. Due to computerisation the member can easily get whereabouts of the books he wishes to read. Thus any member can acquire a book of his choice from any one of the libraries.
In this era of information technology newer territories of knowledge and science have been explored through the medium of internet. In the “Library period” the student can enrich their knowledge through Encarta, Encyclopaedia, Discovery channel C.D., National geographic channel C.D., Wikipedia C.D. etc. With computer, knowledge seeking has become a matter of pleasure.
NMC has distributed lapel card to the students. Along with the name of the school of the student, the phone numbers of health department, emergency control room, fire fighting, child help line and executives of NMC are also mentioned on the card. The blood group and diseases like anaemia, sickle cell, and diabetes are also mentioned on the card.
